No shortcuts (mouse is a must), a beautiful background for a clumsy interface. Extras: a test sheet in form of a vocabulary list to fill in. Bugs: the program was still running after the window disappeared, as could be seen in the Windows Task Manager. The author did not even hesitate to add an applause recording to the About display. I would laugh if I could. |

Flashcard format: part of speech, phonetical transcription of English word, prefix, English word, synonyms, antonyms, Russian word, synonyms, antonyms, description. Flashcards are collected in "notepads" and these in "books". Rich text, but one line text only :-(, you can edit the font. Training: can show hint after X failures, timing, randomized training, flashcards can be flipped, etc. Edit mode: list of flashcards. Buttons for easy access to some of the characters of the IPA (international phonetic alphabet) used for transcription of English words. Extras: Import of tagged plain text files. Stats. Sort. Search. Bugs: some tabs in the options dialog did not work well. This is a beta version. Much of the English interface is still in Russian (in Western versions of Windows showing as odd characters). In W. Windows Russian typed in in the edit mode is displayed as odd characters. although this problem doesn't appear in the training or list mode. As shown by the labels in the dialogs, it is tailored specifically for Russian learners of English. No help file supplied (yet). Tips on startup -like assistant can be shown during session. |
